Heat proves fatal to two workers on silo top
Curtis Saylor and David Blos were treated at the scene after an hourlong rescue on ADA Duck Pike in Maryland. Both men, aged 40 and from Mount Savage and New Market, were on a conveyor belt atop silos in 90 degree heat when one felt sick. Rescuers used a quint from Walkersville to lower them in a harness basket. The plant manager stressed heat safety as summer intensifies.

Take Back Maryland nears signatures to suspend gay rights act
Opponents say they are close to the 46 128 signature goal needed to refer the Anti-Discrimination Act of 2001 to a November 2002 ballot.
