Mount Airy planners mull day care zoning changes
Mount Airy planners urged revising day care zoning at a planning commission meeting. Current rules tie child limits to lot size, with 1,000 sq ft per child, allowing 40 children on a 40,000 sq ft lot as long as half remains for wetlands or other uses. State rules call for 35 sq ft inside and 75 sq ft outside per child. Plan aims to align local limits with state standards and crowding concerns.
