U S Eyes Nuclear Fuel Sale to Egypt Under Pact
U S may sell Egypt nuclear power reactors and low grade uranium fuel under a new agreement signed by Secretary of State Haig and Egypt's Maber Abaza. Egypt, a signatory of the nuclear nonproliferation treaty, assures no weapons program and will follow IAEA inspections. Haig said Israel was informed and declined a similar deal in 1979. Egypt stresses it needs reactors to meet energy needs for 20 years. State Department lauds Egypt's nonproliferation pledge and peace efforts under President Sadat.
