Twenty three Colored Troopers Return From Carrizal
Twenty three troopers of the Tenth Cavalry who were captured at Carrizal and imprisoned in Chihuahua City have returned to El Paso via Juarez. They were released after President Wilson's demand and turned over to U S authorities. One prisoner, Spillsbury, said some American wounded were killed. others claimed they were stoned by Mexicans. The group arrived with Captain Boyds Mormon scout Lem Soulsbury and showed worn uniforms and towels for headgear. A happy, weary crowd welcomed them at the Juarez commandancia.
