Smith Sentenced to Seventeen Years in Maryland Penitentiary
Andrew alias Dr. Smith, a colored man, was convicted of second degree murder in the killing of Annie Blackiston, both colored, by the Circuit Court at the March term. Judge Jones sentenced him yesterday to confinement in the Maryland Penitentiary for 17 years after finding no mercy in the evidence. The trial was moved from Baltimore, the crime having been committed in April 1884.
