Fire at Waverley Garden apartment injures none. six homeless

A late Monday fire at Building P Apartment 304 at Waverley Garden caused $75,000 damage and left six families homeless. Firemen from four city companies fought the blaze for nearly three hours, with smoke and water damage across the 12-unit complex. An unidentified woman was treated for smoke inhalation.

Storm damages utilities as lightning strikes house and starts fire

Severe thunderstorms cause power outages across Frederick area with tree limbs knocked down and cables disrupted. Task Force gains members for county health council drive

In other business the Seering committee reported on the Western Maryland Health Systems Agency HEW membership pending for elected officials and the council approved the HICATT Satellite Day Care and Frederck Memorial Hospital Ambulatory Surgical Unit applications.

R L Grove Dies Former Frederick Official and Promoter

R L Grove known Frederick businessman and sports promoter died Monday evening June 26 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born April 4 1902 in Confluence Pa he owned Grove Grocery and Grove Liquor Store and served on Frederick City Board of Aldermen and Maryland House of Delegates. Survived by wife Elizabeth Falk Grove brother James A Grove sister Betty G Baer and several nieces. Funeral 7 July 9 7 pm at Robert E Daily and Son Funeral Home with interment Mt Oliver Cemetery.
