Embankments Boost Tree Growth Says Sherman Thorp
Sherman Thorp, artist and amateur forester, explains that building embankments on farms traps rainwater, helping trees grow as much in 17 years as in 50. He planted 1000 acres of a 1500 acre Minnesota farm into forest, noting 17 years of growth equals 50 years in rings. He plans a Washington visit with Chief Forester Graves to discuss continental forestry improvements.
