Blue Mountain Home hosts Maryland bankers convention
The Maryland Bankers Association opened its convention at the Blue Mountain Home. Gettysburg already has six thousand four hundred tents for the 50th anniversary Blue and Grey reunion. Contractors plan concrete work on the Washington street school to replace the South street school. The Central Restaurant owner reported a letter from Nick Elephantis about the two Greeks who left Frederick to fight Turks. Mayor Fraley noted unusually heavy water on the mountain during his visit with city officials. Bearded wheat stalks from Creagerstown showed five inch heads of high quality. A plan may propose city wide electricity beyond street lighting for the new administration. County attorney George R. Dennis Jr. supports abolishing Montevue and reforming county institutions for the unsafe.

Cheaper Talk Shifts Call Habits After 9 P.M
A new long distance rate of $1 per minute from 9 p.m. to 4 30 a.m. prompts a nationwide change in calling patterns. Many people delay calls until 9 p.m. as the cheaper rate reduces daytime use. The rate for 6 to 9 p.m. is not as favorable, so overall call volume changes are modest.
