Two From Area To Attend Special Church Meeting
The Potomac Synod will send five clergymen and four delegates, including Rev. Dr. Frederick D. Eyster and Rev. Paul L. Althouse, to the Cleveland session July 6 8 to draft a constitution for the United Church of Christ formed in 1957 by the Union of Evangelical and Reformed with the Congregational Christian Churches. The joint denomination uses differing governance structures with autonomous local churches in Congregationalist practice and synodial authority in the Evangelical and Reformed tradition. The note recalls a 1863 Chile church fire killing 2500 people, a historic tragedy.
