Worker loses arm in auger at Alcoa Eastalco Works

In Buckeystown a maintenance supervisor Ed Stavish lost his left arm up to the shoulder when his sleeve or clothing became entangled in a 20 foot auger at Alcoa Eastalco Works. Co workers shut off the machine but the propulsive auger pulled him in. Stavish remains in serious but stable condition at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Occupational safety investigators and eastaleo fire crews assisted in the rescue.
