Two Frederick County Teachers State Finalists for Math Award
Two Frederick County teachers Joyce Brachey and Kathleen House were named Maryland elementary and secondary finalists for the 1992 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching. The National Science Foundation will select three state winners to the White House with a $7,500 school grant. Brachey, Green Valley Elementary, highlighted a math in world project using family data and budgets. House, Frederick High, showcased a hands on Algebra I lesson with graphic calculators and computers. Both emphasize increasing women in math and curriculum development.
