Presidential deer saved by Camp David and local vets
A day old white tailed fawn at Camp David was found with a two inch belly wound after stepping on her. Camp David notified the Catoctin Mountain Zoo which passed the animal to the Walkersville Veterinary Clinic team led by Dr. Walter Dodson and Dr. Michael OBrien. The wound was cleaned and kept open to avoid infection, with antibiotics administered. The fawn has begun nursing again and will live at the zoo while recovering, not returning to its original habitat.
