Deadly Spokane train wreck injures and kills multiple people
A runaway Spokane Falls and Northern Railway train of 60 coa laced cars without an engine raced down a grade through the city center, demolishing a dwelling and the Crystal laundry. Four killed include William Thomas and Elmer Slee. eight injured, and debris towers 60 feet high. A box car crushed a sleeper and a house was reduced to kindling. Nine people slept in the Slee house. Elmer Slee’s body was found nearby and James Slee was rescued. Postmortems and hospital care follow.
