Boonsboro firefighters apologize for derogatory banner incident

Three Boonsboro firefighters were suspended after a banner showing both Boonsboro and Sharpsburg fire logos appeared at an Ocean City motel and urged Brunswick to stay out of their area. The incident prompted a formal apology to Brunswick Volunteer Fire Co. and a review of mutual aid relations.

County to charge trash fee in upper Montgomery County

Close to 100000 upper Montgomery County homeowners will begin paying an annual waste disposal fee in August, the first time they join a collection district. The council voted to set hauler dumping fees at 57 dollars a ton, adding about 146 dollars yearly per household. Residents in the upper county will face a pro rated 135 dollars in fiscal 1994, with notices to go out July 1 for a Sept 1 start.
