Elevator fire injures two in Baltimore tower
A short circuit in an elevator panel sparked a smokey fire in the Commercial Credit Corp building downtown. Two people were slightly injured and about 1,800 evacuated as firefighters battled the blaze for about 90 minutes. The top floor control room housed the elevator equipment. the engineer Buckner, 63, was treated for exhaustion and remained stable at Mercy Hospital.
