City pact with GFDC draws alderman’s questions
Frederick Alderman Meta Nash questions terms of the agreement between Greater Frederick Development Corp and the city. She wants a contract, a planning of priorities, and formal communication before further funding, as the fiscal 2000 budget already provides 125000 for GFDC. The mayor defends the group. GFDC seeks a binding contract with reporting and a work program. Nash also pushes for a city strategic plan beginning July addressing health safety economic development infrastructure and recreation with measurable goals.

TJ renovation over budget sparks budget debate
The Frederick County Board of Education heard that Gov Thomas Johnson High School renovation costs could reach 254 million dollars for basic work and 246 million for enhanced plans, far above the 19.7 million approved. Officials plan a July work session with the County Commissioners to discuss funding and CIP adjustments, while exploring cost cuts that could reduce the project to about 20 million without full modernization.
