Large Increase Seen In World Wheat Yield
The Agricultural Department estimates world wheat production excluding Russia and China will rise about 300 million bushels from last year. U.S. stocks on hand are about 90 million bushels above the low’s level, while futures have adjusted to export demand. Cash prices remain high due to old wheat scarcity, with expected declines as new Western U.S. supplies grow. An upward adjustment may follow as global consumption and production clarifies.

Refuses To Increase Community Burdens
Washington June 21 One of the strangest struggles of the Congressional session culminated today in a Senate refusal to compel states and communities to bear a greater share of the relief burden. The vote on the proposal would have required the governmental subdivisions to stand 2 percent of the expense of WPA projects. 24 in favor and 49 against. The fight was unusual in that it united Senator Robinson of Arkansas’s majority leader with critics of Roosevelt.
