Fort Ritchie will host a public Independence Day celebration on Friday July 4 starting at noon with a 9 45 pm fireworks show. Highlights include a car show dog show live band games pony rides wildlife display bingo and more. Pool passes cost 2 per person hours noon to 7 pm.
Dr. Benjamin F. Cooling, noted author and historian, speaks at the June 25 Friends of Monocacy Battle field meeting at Gambrill Mansion near the Battlefield Visitor Center Md 355 south of Frederick. He talks about Monocacy The Battle that Saved Washington, the most researched work since 1932. A Q and A follows. Public invited.
Frederick Amateur Radio Club hosts Field Day at 2020 Canada Hill Road Myersville on Saturday and Sunday June 28 and 29. Stations run 24 hours from emergency power as hams contact operators nationwide. ARRL sponsors the event to test preparedness with about 35000 participants. Amy Furr graduates Towson State University summa cum laude with 4.0 GPA and honors.
