Mount Airy Fall Festival plans dropped for lack of interest
Damascus Mount Airy bureau chief STEPHENGUNNELESEN reports the year old effort to revitalize the downtown business district stalled as no local merchants attended a June 12 planning meeting for the Det 6 festival. Without merchant backing, organizers foresee real difficulty running the event and note nearby Sykesville will host a fall festival on October 6 with planned railroad shuttle linkage.
