Council approves haul pact to close Oaks Landfill in fall
Montgomery County Executive Douglas M Duncan signed a long term contract with Brunswick Waste Management Facility to haul solid waste and ash to Virginia. The deal costs about 5.2 million dollars annually with a 25 dollar per ton fee for five years and possible CPI adjustments thereafter. The council expects a solid waste plan amendment to include bypass and nonprocessible waste and to stay involved in major future changes. Laytonsville group praises the move but remains cautiously optimistic as it pushes to close the Oaks Landfill.
