Slug Control in No-Till Corn Faces Limited Options
Agri-Views notes no registered products effectively control slugs in corn and mesurol is illegal as a bait. Few chemicals perform well. homemade Larvia bait matches mesurol in some tests but lacks registration. No-till methods shift toward chisel plow or conventional tillage, while hot weather reduced damage by pushing slugs deeper. Emergency options may emerge in 1990. pre-emergence checks and night applications of 30 percent urea-based nitrogen are advised for early infestations.
