Lightning hit a Middletown bank barn killing hay, machinery and triggering fires that destroyed a Clarksburg house. Guy R. McGlaughlin chair of the Vigilant Hose Co reports $2000 of a $5000 goal has been collected for an engine room addition. Plans are with the architect. The department operates three pumpers a rescue truck and an ambulance. The new 84 by 32 foot addition will hold four engines and allow the ambulance to enter the hall. The society has 100 active members and relies entirely on contributions.
