Reliance Edges Constitution In 25 Mile Long Island Race

In a four hour plus duel at Indian Harbor, Reliance outsailed Constitution by one minute fifty seconds elapsed time. Constitution would need a two to three minute time allowance in a 30 mile race to prevail, while Columbia lagged early and remained outclassed. The lead battle was tight as leaders traded the advantage.

Jett-White jury discharged in Kentucky murder case

In Jackson Kentucky on June 20 the jury in the Jett and Whit murder case against Lawyer James B. Marcum was discharged after failing to reach a verdict. Murdered by a Negro Farmer's Son in Field Altercation

Philadelphia reports Elias Williams, a sharecropper’s worker, shot Percy White, 25, after an argument in a Springfield field. Williams borrowed a shotgun from fellow farmhand Willis Lacy, then fled as a shot killed White near the Evans farm barn.

An Illinois Central passenger train from Omaha collided head on with a freight near Raymond, Iowa. Ten killed and several injured as track clearance took four hours. Victims include engineers J. P.
