Ironcraft duo Danny Hurwitz and Pete Markey finished four burnished bronze gate sides weighing 900 pounds each for the Statue of Liberty renovation. They forged the gates by hand over three weeks in Brownsville, with plans to install them next week for the July 4 rededication. They earned 60000 from the Statue committee, and will have their names scratched into the gates.

Two Frederick fountain statues recovered by police
Two statues stolen from Frederick City business yards last Friday were recovered early Tuesday. One belonged to Federated Charities, the other to Smith Keeney and Basford Funeral Home. They were found damaged in an old cemetery off Pearre Road near Libertytown. Anonymous tip led investigators to the site. both organizations reported recovery on different days. Police continue the investigation and seek information via Checkmate, Frederick County Crime Services, or the Criminal Investigation Division.
