No charges for those who knew of spy ring
A government official said several people may have known of John Walker Jr.’s spying but are unlikely to be charged for failing to report it. The FBI says Walker spied for up to two years before his arrest. Some relatives and associates reportedly knew or suspected, yet charging them would be hard to prove knowledge of espionage. Meanwhile, other defendants in the case entered innocent pleas in Norfolk and San Francisco as investigations continue.
