Frederick City Board of Zoning Appeals postponed action on parking requirements for the former post office site after owner Peter Nelson failed to post the property. The case will resume July 15 at 4 p.m. after posting rules are satisfied. Nelson plans include offices and shops under a federal government purchase agreement.
Pinky Henderson sued Avon heir A Douglas Henderson over a five year romance claiming a lifetime maintenance promise. Judge Burnstein awarded $167000 including $54947 for escrow breach and $50000 for personal property, with the rest from half the net equity in Marablue Farms. The court dismissed the life pooling claim as mere hyperbole.
Chicago cash grain prices show Wheat No 2 hard red winter at 38 14 per bushel and No 2 soft red winter at 39 69 with Corn No 2 yellow at 27 72 and Oats at 14 30 while Soybeans No 1 yellow 15 40 and No 2 yellow 13 24. Delmarva poultry market lists adequate supplies and fair demand with Grade A large eggs at 82 64 cents and Grade A medium at 63 2 cents, plants offering 46 1/2 cents for US Grade A reads to cook. no other major shifts noted.
A Pennsylvanian man drowned while swimming the Potomac River from West Virginia to Maryland and was found Tuesday by Brunswick Volunteer Ambulance crew. Edward A Ernest, 18, of Watfordsburg, Pa., disappeared in mid river opposite Goodheart's Lock 4 and was recovered on a rock beneath the railroad bridge about a mile downstream.
Senator Charles Mathias said he is annoyed by Ramsey Clark’s Iran visit but likely will not push for prosecuting Clark and the nine other Americans who violated President Carter’s travel ban. Mathias, on the Senate Judiciary Committee, noted legal questions and declined to forecast action while calling the trip ill advised.
A 15 year old Bethesda man, Harold James Mackennan of 4508 Belmont Lane, died after his car crossed the center line on East West Highway Monday and hit a Ford Maverick driven by 17 year old Phillip Rayford of Salyer Spring. Mackennan died at Suburban Hospital about 5 40 pm. Rayford suffered minor injuries. The crash occurred about 138 feet east of Larry Place as Mackennan was traveling west. Police noted the victim had a history of heart trouble. The other car's driver reported minor injuries.
