Texan cyclist makes cross country stop en route home

William Campbell 39 of San Antonio passed Frederick on his bicycle trip from New York City to Texas. He claimed travel since June 6 1956 totals about 25 000 miles and expects to reach San Antonio in October. He described past cycles including a Texas to Florida trek and noted he built his current bike from junk. He plans to ride US 4010 Wheeling toward Chicago and has ridden roughly 300 4000 miles since starting in 16.

Permission to Install Gas Tanks Granted

The Sun Oil Company of Baltimore received zoning approval to add three gasoline tanks in Frederick after a Monday hearing by the Zoning Appeals board. One tank has a 4,000 gallon capacity, and the approval followed representation by Stevens and Hiteshew.

Eisenhower Invited to Mount St Marys for 150th

Mount St Marys College in Emmitsburg reports President Eisenhower said he would come if possible to the upcoming 150th anniversary commencement. Monsignor Sherman and Monsignor Culhane presented the invitation at the White House via Senator Beall. Three celebrations are planned: fall for the seminary, spring for the college in 1958, and June for the general sesquicentennial. Archbishop Keough will preside at the June exercises.
