State C. E. Opens Annual Convention

The 484th Maryland Christian Endeavor Union convention opened at Hood College with over 490 registered for the three day program and about 200 attending Friday's meetings. Melvin Towner presided in the afternoon and J Britain Wister in the evening. Arch McQuillin spoke on Jesus Is Mine and Rev Harold E Cheyney urged youth rededication to a fuller life. A closing address by Dr Richard L Shipley is set for Sunday. Sessions were open to the public.

Salvation Army To Run Vacation Bible School

The Salvation Army will conduct a Vacation Bible School at 223 West Fifth Street from June 20 to July 1, starting daily at 9:30. It will include Scripture memory, songs, drama, chalk talks, Bible stories, crafts, and supervised games on the playground. Captain and Mrs. Robert Bott will oversee the program.

Ladies' A Society Meeting at Zion Church Charlesvil

The Ladies' Aid of Zion church in Charlesvil met at Mrs Leona Powell's home on Thursday afternoon. Ten members and visitors attended. the meeting opened with song and scripture, prayers in unison, games were played, and refreshments were served by Mrs Powell. The next meeting is set for July 21 at 7 30 p.m. at Mrs Gray Hamm's home.
