Violent storm tears through Frederick area damaging crops and telecommunication lines
A severe weather event struck Frederick and surrounding towns, uprooting trees and wrecking buildings. The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co. reported about 1,500 lines down and damage exceeding thousands of dollars as poles and wires were blown over and transformers burned. Homes farms and Orchard properties suffered extensive losses. Mount Olivet Cemetery trees were toppled and roofs torn off. Power and telegraph services were disrupted across the county with restoration efforts ongoing.
