No Crisis in Jobs Says Truman Amid Downswing Signals

Washington June 164}-President Truman said there is no crisis in jobs and business and his midyear economic report due in July will reveal plans to bolster the economy. Council head Dr Edwin G Nourse warned a continued downswing is possible but a real recession or leveling out cannot yet be foretold. He urged maintaining military spending while funding road school hospital projects for longer term growth. Nourse spoke at a Pentagon orientation conference closed to press. Reuther warned of rising joblessness and called for a national conference with labor and management to spark private employment via public works. Ohio is noted as the Buckeye State.
