Thieves Rob Labor Camp In Erie County Camp Loots

An armed bandits visited a labor camp near Erie on June 17, waking sleepers and robbing about twenty four workers of pay and belongings. They fled with roughly $2295 after rifling trunks and beds, leaving no clear clues as police seek suspects. In a separate report, Joseph Buste died and three others were fatally injured in a mine explosion at the Valende tunnel in BlaTer.

Harold Vanderbilt Burned In Yacht Fire

Red Top Conn June 17 The launch Vagrant owned by Harold Vanderbilt burned after backfire ignited woodwork as he tried to start the engine. Vanderbilt suffered facial and hand burns but eyesight intact. He jumped overboard, the launch drifted to the government light, and the pier area was briefly set aflame before the craft sank after snagging. Vanderbilt ashore to have burns dressed.

Penrose predicts two week vote date on reciprocity pact

Senator Penrose of Pennsylvania, chair of the finance committee, said that about fifty senators support Canadian reciprocity and that a vote date would be agreed within two weeks. He stated the bill would pass without amendment and that the tariff board would report next December with hearings likely to follow.

Ten to eighty year burglary sentence in Dauphin County

In Harrisburg June 17 Judge Kunkel sentenced Edward Carney a colored man to an indeterminate imprisonment from ten to eighty years for burglary across multiple charges. The case followed a verdict against Vaneman for first degree murder after he shot his wife in February during a family quarrel.

Sugar deal profits loom in Oxnard testimony

Governor Tener Signs Registration Bill in Harrisburg

Governor Tener signed a reform bill changing personal registration rules in first and second class cities. It increases registration commission terms to four years and bars any registrar who did not vote the Republican or Democratic ticket in the last presidential election, affecting many divisions.
