County Backs New Market Bond Issue
The county commissioners vote to back a 100000 New Market sewer bond with county credit. The measure passed two to one, Democratic members split as Lawrence Dorsey opposed, A Irvin Renn and Russell Horman supported. Renn said sewer and water facilities drive county growth and that repayments come from users in the New Market District. He noted state and federal aid needs and bank loan terms. Dorsey argued for a citizen study on future water and sewer needs and a possible government unit to manage facilities, stressing cooperation with business groups.
