Storm outage and hazardous river loom over county
A midcounty storm knocked out power to about 50 homes as Potomac Edison crews worked until 10:30 p.m. High winds and lightning hit areas including Yellow Springs and Old Frederick Road. The National Weather Service reported a funnel cloud in Rockville at 4:06 p.m. River levels at Harpers Ferry and Point of Rocks remained hazardous with warnings for recreational boating. The high water complicated the search for a drowning victim. Weather forecasts call for partly cloudy tonight and sunny with highs near 90 on Friday. The air quality is coded yellow with moderate levels.
