Frederick County Commissioners unanimously approve a Phase 1 energy saving plan including earlier summer hours for most employees and an energy audit of all county buildings. The plan aims to cut energy use and costs by about 15 to 20 percent, according to Thomas E. Keilholtz.
Keilholtz declines to give exact savings until the audit is complete. Beginning Monday county offices will close air conditioning and heating after 3 30 p.m. year round and open 8 a m to d p m with 80 65 degree thermostat rules to save energy. The plan notes daylight hours and will affect public meeting and recreation buildings, drawing possible complaints from users.
A Frederick County Health Department survey in old Point of Rocks found 10 of 37 water samples contaminated with bacteria and three samples with human waste.
