Mrs. Mary Bergman, wife of a carpenter, kept 24 dogs at 273 Waverly Avenue causing loud nightly noise. Neighbors complained, a county physician deemed her insane and she was sent to Snake Hill asylum. Bergmann released nine dogs before police intervened. officer Bose shot the remaining 15 dogs.
Passenger engine No. 757 of the International and Great Northern Railroad exploded its boiler near the depot at about 4 am. Fireman Wilcox escaped with minor burns as boiler fragments were found up to 300 yards away and a heavy piece atop a house. Total loss estimated at $10,000.
In excavation yesterday a workman unearthed an ancient brown pocket book in good preservation. It contained papers covering transactions amassing near $100,000 including certificates of deposit in Waco National Bank and Hill County National Bank.
