Isaac A. Stanley, a paying teller at the National Bank of Commerce in Cleveland, was arrested for embezzling $100000 from the reserve fund. He admitted borrowing to cover a debt on his house, investing in grain, and expanding the theft to the total amount. Directors say the bank is not financially harmed, and Stanley has assigned his property and deals to the bank.
A man released from the penitentiary after a two year term for forgery was re arrested by Boston detectives at the prison gate and escorted to Boston.
In New York on June 10 John Carpenter, who on May 22 killed his wife and stabbed his sister in law Delia Ambrose, cut his own abdomen again with a spoon handle. Keepers found blood on his stockings and doctors said injuries were not serious. He claimed friends deserted him and then asked if the spoon was poisonous, expressing a wish to live.
George Lempee of Green Island unearthed a crack filled with Spanish coins while gardening. The coins, dating back over a century, are valued at about 400 dollars.
