Three Years In Worst Assault Case In Court
Magistrate Wilbur F. Sheffield Jr. sentenced George Cooley Jr. to three years in the Maryland House of Correction for aggravated assault on Mary L. Tunick of Urbana. Cooley used fists, a gun butt, and furniture during an assault at the Monocacy Inn near Frederick after a May 31 incident. Tunick, who was treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital, testified of serious injuries and scars, while Cooley claimed self defense and sobriety.
