Republican candidate May L Leatherman thanked voters after a 29 vote defeat as he urged continued opposition to Mayor Lloyd C Culler and sewer projects. He urged GOP revival, cooperation with the mayor, and service to Frederick with civic unity across races.
Reverend Ralph E. Hartman of Grace Evangelical and Reformed church cut a wild backyard tree limb, uncovering thousands of bees. He fled the scene, later hiring a beekeeper to remove the swarm. The family breathed easier once the hive was relocated, with a few stragglers remaining.

The twenty third annual session of the Women's Missionary Suri of the Synnad of the Potomac of Evangelical and Reformed eh will be held at Hood College on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. The convention theme will be Witnessing and Working and the program will be devoted to reports parts of officers committees representatives of church boards and departmental secretaries. A feature will be an address by Rabbi Edward Israel Baltimore on A Critical Analysis of the Christian Jewish Relationship Tuesday evening at 7 30. Sessions open Tuesday morning at 8 30 o'clock after a meeting of the executive board Monday afternoon at 3 30. Devotions led by Miss Mary Hoffheins Hood Pa followed by greetings by Mrs Henry I Stahr and response by Mrs Guy Benchoff Woodstock Va. Mrs Benchoff formerly Miss Katharine Hottel a Hood graduate.
A group of women in the Marsland League of Women Voters will attend a meeting Monday at 10 30 a m at the Francie Stott Key Hotel in Baltimore. Mrs John OT King of Baltimore and Frederick will speak on Where in the League. The league, founded in 1927 by Mrs Charles F Ellicott, is nonpartisan and aims to train citizenship in women. The meeting is open to the public.

Mrs Caroline Julia Weller of Frederick married William Harrison Partridge in Wilmington on Friday. Rev John W Christie officiated. Partridge, a retired London native, worked for Jackson & Sharp Co and American Car & Foundry Co. He traveled extensively in Europe and the Americas and served as American consular agent for nine years. The couple plans to settle in Wilmington. ceremony drew notable interest.

Clarence H Hett longtime president of Gordon Brothers Mantaining Company Philadelphia and a Frederick County native died in a Philadelphia hospital. He was about 83 and had lived in Frederick a century ago. He is survived by relatives including former Chester Dassmore of Philadelphia and a brother and sister in law. Funeral arrangements include viewing at home Monday, service, and burial Tuesday at the cemetery.
Former Maryland state legislator and farmer McGill Belt of Rock Hall near Beckerson died of a cerebral hemorrhage at Frederick City Hospital at 12:30 this afternoon aged 81. Born August 14, 1856, he owned the 700 acre family tract along the Monocacy river and Montgomery county line. He served in the 1914 Maryland General Assembly and was active in Barnesville churches and local enterprise. He is survived by two sisters, with funeral arrangements to be advised.
Hoxie's three ring circus arrived at the Fair Grounds this morning with Frederick gaining early arc knowledge. Shows start at 2 pm and the final is at 8 pm. Hoxie tours with Dixie Starr and Scout the horse and features a $5000 inlaid saddle. Tetu Zumaty leads the Oriental acts. nine nationalities appear in costumes and performances. Washington county authorities released Howard Hagan after Markett declined to prosecute a theft case involving a car battery a generator and eight gallons of gasoline from Loule Market in Burkittsville. Stolen items were recovered and Hagan, about 23, had a prior minor theft record. He was turned over to Constable Earl Lowell who brought him to jail and later released him after proceedings.
Philadelphia June 12 AP investigation ordered into disposal of six bodies found in the basement of the closed Naturo pathic Hospital. The Pennsylvania Anatomical Board records show only five bodies were purchased for medical use by the hospital five years ago. Mayor S Davis Wilson told the coroner's office the five were men, while one of those found appeared to be a woman.
