A 50 year old Lucketts resident, Marshal M Bates, died after his 1950 Ford struck a southbound 1952 International tractor trailer on U S 15 north of Buckeystown about 12 05 a m. The tractor trailer driver escaped injury. Bates suffered a fractured skull and crushed chest. The crash damaged the utility pole and blocked the road as crews cleared debris.
