Frederick Washington and Montgomery counties will divide 8.25 million state Rural Legacy funds to conserve 1 507 acres in Frederick 925 in Washington and 834 in Montgomery. The plan links forests rivers and trails including Antietam Battlefield and the C and O Canal area as greenways to prevent development and protect watersheds.
First lady Hillary Rodham Clinton will tour the Monocacy Aqueduct on Monday June 15 to spotlight endangered historic sites. Frederick officials and the board award a 997776 dollar contract to Yarnell P Wastler & Sons to build 2300 feet of Monoccacy Boulevard from Bucheimer Road to Hughes Ford Road. Construction starts July and finishes in eight months with pavement work, storm drains, sidewalks, lighting, and site work.
