Spy taints VFW post in South Carolina town
Espionage allegations against John Anthony Walker Jr. cast a shadow over VFW Post No. 3433 in Ladson, where an absentee landlord tied to Walker rents the land. Members report a 60 percent drop in business as longtime patrons, including many in uniform, avoid the bar and mess hall. The post pays about 250 dollars monthly rent, while Walker’s ownership of the 4.87 acres and unpaid tax lien of 252 thousand dollars loom over the facility and its 300 members plus 65 in the auxiliary.
