British ambassador to attend Annapolis Bicentennial ceremony

The British Ambassador Sir Peter Ramsbotham will join Maryland officials for a June 23 Bicentennial observance at St. John's College Annapolis. Sen. Mathias will preside as the Liberty Tree site marks the 200th anniversary of Royal Governor Robert Eden's departure in 1776.

Smithsonian hosts Bicentennial exhibit 1876 Centennial

The Smithsonian Museum launches the 1876 A Centennial Exhibition on May 10, featuring more than 25 000 objects and machinery from the Philadelphia Exposition. Highlights include a 19 ton Linde Wolfe compressor a 51 foot cruiser model Antietam and steam powered engines with free admission hours 10 am to 9 pm daily.
