West Seeks Compromise Over Eichmann Dispute at UN
Western diplomats seek a face-saving compromise to avert a showdown between Argentina and Israel at the United Nations over Adolf Eichmann. Argentina claims Israel seized him in Buenos Aires violating sovereignty and plans to appeal to the U.S. Argentina may accept mediation or World Court involvement. Ben-Gurion reportedly sent a conciliatory letter to Frondizi. Israel would likely oppose World Court action, preferring a domestic trial to reveal Nazi extermination details.
