City Tax Rate Based on Old Assessment
City officials decide to base the coming year’s levy on the old assessment rather than the recent reassessment. Bank stocks and about 100,000 of personal property are exempt, leaving a tax base of 3,918,926 with exemptions, producing a levy of 33,938.19. Frederick benefits from this approach as the old basis is higher than the new.
