Question Of Left Turns To Be Taken Up
Representatives of the State Roads Commission and city officials will meet Tuesday afternoon with Mayor Donald B. Rice to discuss left turns at the Square Corner. Traffic Director George Lewis and other commission members may attend along with city traffic officers. The aim is to speed traffic and reduce snarls by possibly eliminating left turns at Market Patrick and East streets where state maintenance applies. East Street reopened for weekend traffic after a weeklong closure for railroad improvements, with main-track renewal planned next week.

Four Drunken Driving Cases In Two Days
In Covington Kentucky a man paid a $100 fine and costs in Peoples Court this morning, the fourth drunken driving case in two days. Dillard L. Vaughn admitted drinking a beer in a throw away carton near Route 40 and was arrested by Sergt. Stallings. He pleaded guilty and had a $10 reckless driving fine suspended. Witnesses described a line of trucks fearing to pass as Vaughn swerved across the road. Magistrate Shoemaker imposed the $100 fine. Yesterday William A. Thrasher paid $100 in a similar charge from Route 40. Mitchell L. Lum’s case, heard by Magistrate Sheffield, was continued to June 29 for more defense witnesses. Lum posted $1,000 bond. Final testimony in a fourth case was extended to Monday. In other actions Clarence W. Anderson forfeited $30 for an undersized bass in closed season, and M. Johnson of Berkeley Springs forfeited $5 for speeding near Point of Rocks.
