Thurmont OKs 3.3 Million Budget For Year Oversees Utilities
Thurmont commissioners approve a 3.3 million dollar budget for the coming fiscal year, about 200 thousand more than last year. The plan includes 2.1 million for electric utility expenses, 392,650 for sewer, 250,100 for water, and 28,100 moved from the general fund to water to avoid rate increases. Police receive a shotgun, radio, and a 43,050 patrol car, while the electric utility allocates 100,000 for a voltage regulator to prevent surges. A subdivision request for Colonial Heights seeks sidewalk waivers, triggering a split vote and plan for a sidewalk policy workshop.

Fliers From White Supremacist Group Spark Local Unease
Fliers from the National Democratic Front were found on windshields at several Frederick County bars, including P s Country Bar on Md 355. Patrons described the material as troubling, but no disturbances occurred. Bar owners indicated they oppose recruitment and would eject such groups if encountered. Local business leaders blamed the group’s distribution on a Montgomery County mailbox operation, with limited recourse for communities.
