City Plans $2 Million Bond Issue Sale On June 18
The city will sell a $2,000,000 bond issue at 7 p.m. June 18 at City Hall to fund a water supply on the Monocacy river and sewer system upgrades. The two-part issue totals $990,000 for water and $1,010,000 for various purposes, with bids required on the whole. Interest must not exceed 5 percent, with par at minimum. Car Crash Drowns 15-Year-Old Boy Near River Bridge
A 15-year-old Petersburg boy, Bobby Harper, is missing and believed drowned after a car he rode in plunged into the South Branch of the Potomac River near MOOREFIELD, W V. The 18-year-old driver, Glen Bensenhaver, swam to shore and was hospitalized with unknown injuries as police recovered the sunken vehicle about 30 feet deep. Dragging operations began immediately.
