Eleven days of digging yield hundreds of artifacts from Maryland’s earliest inhabitants at a Potomac River site southwest of Cresaptown. Dr Robert D. Wall of Towson State University notes artifacts span 12 000 years to European contact, including charred corn and a rectangular dwelling trench possibly built by Susquehannock traders.
