Supreme Court upholds Taft Hartley Act limits on strikes
The Supreme Court in a 6 3 ruling says state labor boards may ban mass picketing force and threats of violence by strikers even when actions may breach federal law. The decision stems from UAW v Kohler Co case in Wisconsin 1954 and limits on federal preemption. In a separate 6 3 ruling the court rejects California wage case on Communist party membership finding no federal question. Justice Douglas dissents.

Television Letters and Viewer Feedback Trends
TV and radio writer Charles Mercer notes viewers often say they will write letters but few actually do. Networks read mail closely, and judging by quality rather than quantity, two articulate letters can represent many viewers. The Legion of Decency lists form cards for members to cite offending programs.
