In Frederick County Newby has overseen additions or building of 31 schools and planned five more. He notes the lengthy five to seven year process from need to completion and the constant, hands on oversight required for fire safety, sprinkler, alarm systems and emergency planning. He and wife Mary plan travel and a retirement focused on antiques, volunteering, and possibly a small home business.
